Sip805 is a wine-country discovery platform built specifically for California's Central Coast. Not a national wine app that happens to list a few Paso Robles tasting rooms — built from the ground up for this one region, covering Paso Robles, Edna Valley, Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Maria Valley, Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, Sta. Rita Hills, and the surrounding AVAs. The catalog currently has 127 active wineries across 18 regions, plus 10 curated wine trails assembled by the Sip805 team. Here's what the platform does and how to get the most out of it.

The AI Concierge

The headline feature is the AI Concierge, powered by Anthropic Claude. You tell it what you need in plain language, and it returns a real itinerary — stops in order, drive times, notes on why each stop fits your request.

That sounds simple, but the execution matters. Tell it: plan a Saturday in Paso for four people, two non-drinkers, dog-friendly stops only, lunch in town — and it handles all of it. It knows which wineries in the Paso Robles catalog are dog-friendly, which have food or are walkable to restaurants, and how to pace the day without everyone burning out by 2 p.m. It also checks the weather automatically and flags rainy-day issues — a hillside winery with an unpaved lot hits differently in January than in July.

The Concierge has memory. It logs what you liked, what you skipped, your group size, dietary needs, preferred styles. The more you use it, the sharper the plans get. A first-time visitor gets a solid itinerary. A returning user who has checked into a dozen wineries gets recommendations that actually reflect their taste.

Plans you save go to Your Plans on the Home tab. They can be reopened, edited, or shared with the group.

Curated Wine Trails

For users who want a pre-built route rather than a custom plan, Sip805 has 10 curated wine trails — multi-stop routes selected by the editorial team, not generated by an algorithm.

A few examples:

Every trail page renders as a numbered list of stops with descriptions. The Concierge also knows the trails — you can ask it to build a day around one, or pull stops from multiple trails into a single plan.

Winery Profiles and Discovery

Every winery in the catalog has a full profile: photos, hours, tasting fees, the wine menu (varietals, vintages, ABV, prices), experiences offered, and check-ins from real visitors. No paid placements pushing wineries up the list. Real check-ins are weighted more heavily than anonymous star ratings.

Favoriting a winery subscribes you to push notifications — new releases, upcoming events, temporary closures. If you're the kind of person who plans a trip around a library release or a harvest dinner, that's how you find out before it sells out.

Region pages list every winery in that AVA, filterable by style, experience type, and price range.

Trip Builder

If you'd rather plan manually, the Trip Builder lets you select wineries from the catalog, drag them into order, and get drive-time estimates between stops. Saved manual trips live in the same Your Plans section alongside AI-generated itineraries. You can start with an AI plan and then swap stops in the Trip Builder — the two tools work together.

Visit History

Every check-in is logged: rating, notes, optional photo, and what you spent. Your profile tracks lifetime stats — wineries visited, trails completed, regions covered. That history is yours permanently, and it feeds back into the Concierge, so the more you check in, the more the recommendations sharpen over time.

Reservations

Some wineries in the catalog accept instant tasting reservations through the app. Others receive the request by email and respond directly. Either way, you're booking the actual winery — Sip805 isn't an intermediary. Cancellation policies are set by each winery and listed on their profile.

How to Get Started

Sip805 is free. It runs on the web at app.sip805.com and installs as a PWA on your phone — no app store required. Native iOS and Android apps are coming. Sign-up requires age verification (21+).

If you're planning a first trip to the Central Coast, start with the AI Concierge. Give it your group size, your timeline, any constraints, and let it draft the day. If you already know the region and have specific wineries in mind, use the Trip Builder to string them together and check drive times. Either way, the trail pages are worth browsing before you go — they're the fastest way to understand what makes each part of the region distinct.
